Two friends killed as truck hits their bike in Gazipur

Two young friends were killed after a truck hit their motorcycle in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur while they were travelling to Mymensingh to visit another friend early Friday.


The deceased were identified as Md Soleman Sikdar, 22, son of Hasin Sikdar of Sarengkandi village in Jajira upazila of Shariatpur, and Kawsar Hossain, 28, son of Giar Uddin of South Mandail area in Keraniganj of Dhaka. They used to reside in Keraniganj.

According to police and family members, four friends – Sajjad, Arif, Soleman and Kawsar – left Keraniganj on two motorcycles for Trishal in Mymensingh to visit another friend.

Around 2:00am, a truck from the opposite direction ran over the motorcycle of Soleman and Kawsar on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the Jainabazar of Sreepur, leaving both of them dead on the spot.

Officer-in-Charge of Mawna Highway Police Station Kamruzzaman said police recovered the bodies, reports UNB.

The truck involved in the accident and the damaged motorcycle were also seized, but the trucker managed to flee, he said.
