Three members of a family, including a woman and her two-year-old daughter, were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a truck in Dighalia upazila of Khulna district on Friday night.

The accident occurred at around 9:45pm on the Khulna-Kalia road in Domra village, police said.

According to sources, Sihab Sheikh, 24, of Uthali village under Kalia upazila in Narail, was travelling towards Kalia from Khulna on a motorcycle with his wife Farzana Khatun, 22, sister-in-law Rubia Khatun, 16, and two-year-old daughter Maymuna when the motorcycle collided head-on with an oncoming truck.

Farzana, Rubia and Maymuna died on the spot, while critically injured Sihab was taken to Kalia Upazila Health Complex for treatment.

The truck driver and his helper fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Dighalia Police Station Shubhra Prakash Das confirmed the incident, saying police were working to identify the absconding truck driver and helper and take legal action against them, reports BSS.
