Four killed in Munshiganj road crash
Four people were killed when a passenger bus collided head-on with a private car on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Gazaria upazila of the district today.
The deceased were identified as private car passengers Mujibur Rahman, 55, Shamima Akter, 45, and Sabiha Chowdhury, 40, and the car driver Sohel, 25.
The accident occurred around 2.45 pm in Baluakandi Highway Police Point area of Gazaria upazila.
Deputy Director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Mohammad Shafiqul Islam said the accident occurred when the private car -- which had come out of Miami Restaurant was taking a U-turn to head towards Dhaka -- collided with a Dhaka-bound bus.
Sohel was killed on the spot in the accident.
The injured passengers of the private car were rescued and taken to Hamdard Medical Hospital, where doctors declared Mujibur Rahman, Shamima Akter and Sabiha Chowdhury dead.
Officer-in-Charge of Bhoberchar Highway Police Mohammad Moniruzzaman Khan said the bodies of Mujibur Rahman, Shamima Akter and Sabiha Chowdhury were kept at Hamdard Medical Hospital, while Sohel’s body was kept at Bhoberchar Health Complex, reports BSS.
