Two killed in three-vehicle collision on Sylhet-Dhaka highway

Two people were killed and six others injured in a collision involving three vehicles in the Chanpur area under Osmaninagar upazila on the Sylhet-Dhaka highway today.


According to police, an ambulance heading to Dhaka from Sylhet collided head-on with a microbus travelling towards Sylhet and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw bound for Sherpur.

Suhel Ahmed, 47, a passenger in the microbus, died at the scene. He was a resident of Mahamaya village in Chandpur sadar upazila.

Seven people injured in the accident were rescued and taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where the attending doctors declared another victim, Khairul Islam, 47, dead. He was a resident of Matlab South upazila in Chandpur, reports BSS.

Officer-in-Charge of Sherpur Highway Police Station Anisur Rahman all three vehicles involved in the accident were seized. Necessary legal action is being taken in connection with the incident, he added.
