CNG driver killed being hit by unknown vehicle in city

A driver was killed and two passengers were injured after an unknown vehicle hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Banani area on Friday.



A driver was killed and two passengers were injured after an unknown vehicle hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Banani area in the capital early Friday.

The deceased was Shohidul Islam, 50, hailed from Jashore district.

Police said an unknown vehicle hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in front of Bangladesh Army Stadium around 2:00 am, leaving its driver and two passengers critically injured.

They were rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital were the on-duty doctor declared driver Shohidul dead.

Critically injured Malti Rani, 45, and her son Bishwajit, 25, are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital's emergency department.

The body was kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.Banani Police Station sub-inspector Md Jubaidul said police are trying to detect the vehicle via CCTV footage.
