Hit by bus, 2 motorcyclists killed in Khulna

Two motorcyclists were killed in the city on Khulna-Satkhira highway as a bus hit their vehicle on Monday morning. 

The deceased were identified as Hafiz Md Shariful Islam, 23, from Morelganj upazila in Bagerhat and Md Belal Hossain,24 , from Rajbandh area. 

The accident occurred around 7:30 am in front of Pragati School as the recklessly-driven Khulna-bound bus hit the motorcycle, leaving Shariful and Belal dead on the spot, said witnesses, reports UNB. 

Another witness said the bus hit the motorcycle while giving  side to a Satkhira-bound truck and immediately fled the spot. 

According to locals, Shariful was a local madrasa teacher and Belal was a muezzin (official for prayer calls) of a mosque. 

Locals blocked Khulna-Satkhira road for an hour protesting the accident and later left the road when police appeared there, said Md emdadul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of Harintana police station. 

The bodies have been sent for autopsy and efforts are on to detain the bus driver, said the OC.
