15 die as boat sinks in Karatoya River in Panchagarh; 25 go missing

At least 15 people were killed and around 25 others went missing as a boat capsized in the Karatoya River in Boda upazila on Sunday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

SM Sirajul Huda, superintendent of  police of Panchagarh, said the boat carrying 60-70 passengers including women and children sank in the middle of the river while heading towards Badheshwar temple on the occasion of Mayalaya from Mareya Aulia ghat around 2:30 pm.

Fifteen bodies were recovered from the river while many others managed to swim ashore, reports UNB.
