Motorcycle rider killed in Savar road crash, two buses torched

A motorcycle rider was killed when two buses were jostling to overtake one another at Ashulia in Savar, the outskirts of the capital Dhaka on Sunday morning.



A motorcycle rider was killed when two buses were jostling to overtake one another at Ashulia in Savar, the outskirts of the capital Dhaka  on Sunday (April 2) morning.
The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 32, son of Md Majed alias Baharul.
The incident took place at about 7:30am in front of Zirabo Bengal Plastic factory on the Tongi-Ashulia-EPZ road.
Quoting eyewitnesses, station officer of Zirabo Fire Service Kobir Hossain said two buses belonging to Alinur Paribahan were heading towards Abdullapur from Dhaka in the morning. The two were trying to overtake each other. Then one of those smashed Mehedi’s motorbike, leaving him dead on the spot.
Angered by the accident, angry mob set the two buses on fire.
Being informed, two units from Zirabo Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ashulia Police Station Masud Al Mamun said they recovered the body.
