2 children drown in Jamalpur pond

Two children drowned in a pond at Sirajabad in Islampur upazila of Jamalpur district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Simanto, 7, son of Ibrahim Khalil and Minal, 8, son of Shukkur Ali of the upazila.

Mostafizur Rahman Kamal, Palabanda Union chairman, said the two children went missing while they were taking bath in the pond at noon.

After noticing that the two children were missing for a long time, local people started searching for them. Later they recovered them from the pond and took the children to a local hospital where the doctors declared them dead, reports UNB.
