Father, son killed in Cumilla train, autorickshaw accident

A father and his son have been killed when a CNG-run autorickshaw carrying them was dragged by a train up to half a kilometer at Bijoypur Jailkhanabari Railcrossing in Cumilla.



A father and his son have been killed when a CNG-run autorickshaw carrying them was dragged by a train up to half a kilometer at Bijoypur Jailkhanabari Railcrossing in Cumilla.

The accident happened at about 4:00pm on Saturday.

The deceased were Md Sohag, 34, and his son autorickshaw driver Sohel, 14, of Bataichhari Pakamura area under Barura upazila in Cumilla district.

Laksham Railway Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC) Jasim Uddin Khondker said the autorickshaw got twisted after collided with a moving train when the vehicle was trying to cross the Bijoypur Bazar Rail crossing. Instantly, the autorickshaw got stuck to the train which then dragged it up to half a kilometer, leaving both the father and his son dead on board the autorickshaw.

Later, their bodies were recovered and brought to Laksham Railway Police Station.
