4 killed in Jamalpur road crash

At least four people were killed when a truck rammed an auto-rickshaw on the Jamalpur-Mymensingh regional highway at Sadar upazila on Friday.



At least four people were killed when a truck rammed an auto-rickshaw on the Jamalpur-Mymensingh regional highway at Sadar upazila on Friday (June 9).

The accident happened at Ranagacha Uttarpara area of the upazila around 2.00 pm.

The deceased were identified as Joynal, 42, son of Sobahan Ali, Shahed Ali, 55, son of Foyez Uddin, Abdul Mazid, 41, son of late Sadar Ali, and Solaiman, 42, son of Yusuf Ali. All of them were residents of Kandapara village under Itail union of the upazila.

Jamalpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Newaz said, a speeding Mymensingh- bound truck hit a battery-run auto rickshaw from the opposite direction, leaving two dead on the spot and three other passengers of the auto rickshaw critically injured.

Later, the injured were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where two more people died under treatment.
