Two people, including a local Awami League leader, were killed being crushed under the wheels of a train in separate incidents in Narsingdi early Friday.

The accidents took places at Narsingdi Railway Station and Arshinagar railway crossing in the upazila.

One of the deceased was Nesar Ahmed alias Daktar Farid, 65, former president of Chormodhoa Union unit AL and the other's identities, aged around 16, could not be known immediately.

Narsingdi Railway Police Outpost in-charge Saiful Islam said the unidentified teenage boy crushed under the train after being slipped when he was trying to board moving Dhaka-bound Noakhali Express train in Narsingdi Railway Station. He was critically injured.

He was taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, a Dhaka-bound Upaban Express train ran over Nesar while he was crossing a railway track at Arshinagar level crossing around 7:00am. He died on the spot, he said.

The body of the AL leader was handed over to the deceased's family members without an autopsy upon their request and police were trying to identify the boy, the official added.
