408 killed in 491 road accidents in May

A total of 408 people were killed and 631 people were injured in 491 road accidents across the country in May.

Road Safety Foundation revealed the information through a press release issued on Friday. 

Among the casualties, 141 people were killed in 156 motorcycle accidents, which is 34.55 per cent of the total deaths. During this period, four people died and two were missing in six accidents on waterways. Meanwhile, 23 people were killed and six injuried in 25 railway accidents.

The Road Safety Foundation prepared the report based on data collected from nine national dailies, seven online news portals and electronic media.
