Worker dies in school building wall collapse in Kalapara

Patuakhali: A day laborer named Alamin (30) died when the wall an abandoned school building collapsed on him while renovating in Patuakhali's Kalapara. The accident took place on Wednesday around 12 noon during the renovation work of Anjupara Government Primary School of Tiakhali Union. The deceased Alamin is the son of Md. Alamgir Mia, a resident of Nachnapara Bangabandhu Colony in Kalapara. His body has been sent to Patuakhali Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.

Tiakhali Union Parishad Chairman Mahmudul Hasan Sujan Molla said that the head teacher and president did this on their own initiative without taking the permission of the Upazila Parishad.

Kalapara police sub-inspector Md. Zahirul Islam said that the wall of the abandoned building collapsed and hit him on the head, resulting in his death on the spot.

Attempts were made to contact the headmaster of the school in this regard, but he could not be found. - Gofran Biswas Palash
