Two killed in city road accidents

The bodies of the deceased were kept in DMCH morgue for autopsy.



Two people were killed and another was injured in two separate road accidents in city's Dholaypar and Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover areas on Saturday  night.

The deceased were identified as motorcycle rider Md. Shifat Morshed, 28, son of Zahid Morshed of Kustia district and Sobahan, 44, son of Abdul Kuddus Molla of Shariatpur district. Shifat’s friend Tanveer Siddiqui, 25, was also injured, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost.

Police said Sobahan was killed after being hit by a speeding truck while crossing the road on Saturday around 12:30 pm. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, where the duty doctors declared him dead.

While, Md. Shifat was killed while passing Mayor Hanif flyover on a motorcycle with a friend. The accident took place when the motorcycle lost control and collided with the island of the flyover, police said.

The bodies of the deceased were kept in DMCH morgue for autopsy, said Bachchu Miah.
