2 dead as covered van hits autorickshaw in Ctg

Two people were killed and another injured on Friday when a speeding covered van rammed into a CNG-run autorickshaw on Bayezid Link Road.



Two people were killed and another injured on Friday when a speeding covered van rammed into a CNG-run autorickshaw on Bayezid Link Road in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district on Friday.

The deceased Md Monir, 50 and Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, 40 were in the smashed autorickshaw, police said.

Injured Md Shahid, 32, was the driver of the autorickshaw and hails from Kalu Shah Shrine area in Akbar Shah police station in the port city of Chattogram.

Masud Rana, in-charge of Faujdarhat police outpost, said the accident happened in the morning when the covered van knocked down the autorickshaw coming from opposite direction in Faujdarhat Banglabazar Bypass area, leaving the three critically injured.

The injured were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and both the vehicles seized, he said.

Nurul Alam Asheque, sub-inspector CMCH police outpost, said three injured were brought to the hospital from Sitakunda and two of them declared dead by physicians upon arrival.
