Couple killed as truck ploughs through Jamalpur house

Jamalpur, Dec 27 -- A man and his wife were killed as a truck ploughed through their roadside house at Garohori village in Dewanganj upazila early Monday.

The deceased are Joynal Abedin, 48 a farmer, and his wife Hasina Begum, 40.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Dewanganj Police Station Mohabbat Kabir said the Rowmari-bound fertilizer-laden truck skidded off the road and ploughed through the roadside house after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the couple, who were asleep, dead on the spot.

However, the driver managed to flee the scene, the OC added. - UNB
