Medical college student dies in Barishal road accident

The deceased was identified as Towfiqur Rahman Shuvo, a fourth-year student of the medical college.



A Barishal Medical College student died after an autorickshaw collided with a truck on the Barishal-Dhaka Highway on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Towfiqur Rahman Shuvo, a fourth-year student of the medical college.

The incident happened near the C&B road on the Barisha-Dhaka highway around 7:30pm on Monday.

The truck driver, Riaz (24) was arrested from the spot, said Barishal Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Anwar Hossain.

Quoting eyewitnesses, Sub-Inspector (SI) Mainul Islam of Barisal Kotwali Model Police Station said the incident happened when the auto-rickshaw was heading towards Nathullabad and the truck was going from Nathullabad towards Rupali. Shuvo and the autorickshaw driver were injured in the collision.

They were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared Shuvo dead.

The body of the deceased is in the morgue, said OC Anwar.

Action will be taken in this regard as per law, he added.
