The deceased were identified as the autorickshaw passengers Jasim Talukdar, 45, his grandson Yeasin, 5, and driver Shaheen Mollah, 42, a resident of Burundi village.

Three people including two members of a family were killed and two others injured as a speeding truck crashed into a CNG-run autorickshaw on Hemayetpur regional road in Singair upazila of Manikganj on Monday.

The deceased were identified as the autorickshaw passengers Jasim Talukdar, 45, his grandson Yeasin, 5, and driver Shaheen Mollah, 42, a resident of Burundi village under Sadar upazila of the district.

The injured were identified as Jasim’s son Hamza, 3, and another passenger Fouzia, 30.

Sadar Police Station’s officer-in-charge Md Habil Hossain said the accident occurred around 10 am when the sand-laden drum truck collided with the autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving the three dead on the spot and two more injured.

Stating the condition of the injured as critical, he said they were admitted to 250-bed Manikganj Sadar Hospital.

The bodies were sent to the hospital’s morgue for autopsy, he said, adding that the truck was seized but its driver managed to flee.
