School teacher killed as pickup ploughs into home

The deceased was idenditified as Imari Rakhine, 49, wife of Uhla Rakhine, a resident of Officerchar area under the upazila.



A female school teacher was killed as a pick-up van ploughed into her home garden at Ramu upazila in Cox's Bazar district on Saturday.

The deceased was idenditified as Imari Rakhine, 49, wife of Uhla Rakhine, a resident of Officerchar area under the upazila. She was a senior teacher of Sonaichari High School and the president of Baniyarjiri Government Primary School management committee.

Quoting locals, Ramu Police Station officer-in-charge Dewan Abu Taher said a speeding pickup van ploughed into the victim's flower garden after it's driver lost control over the steering of the vehicle when Imari Rakhine was working there, leaving her dead on the spot.

Being informed, police seized the vehicle from the spot, however, its driver managed to flee the scene, said OC Abu Tahir.

Police also recovered the from the scene and sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, added the OC.
