Motorbike hits stationary microbus killing 2 riders in Sylhet

Sylhet, Jan 31 - A motorcyclist and his pillion rider died after their morotcycle hit a stationary microbus at the Malnichara Tea Garden area on the Airport Road in Sylhet on Wednesday.

The accident happened around 5pm on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Md Mehdi Afnan (32), of Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar, and Ashfaquzzaman (30), of Barail area of Chunarughat municipality in Habiganj.

Sylhet Airport Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mia confirmed the matter.

“Mehedi's motorcycle collided with a stationary microbus in the Malnichara Tea Garden area, killing him on the spot. Ashfaquzzaman was taken to Osmani Medical College Hospital in a critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries,” said the OC.

The motorcycle and the microbus are currently in police custody, he said. - UNB
