Ansar man dies after hard punch on chest in Rajshahi

The deceased was known as Mainul Islam (45), hailed from Manganpur Palpur village of Godagari upazila in Rajshahi.

An Ansar member was killed after hooligans punched him at Rajshahi Railway Station on Thursday night (February 8).

Ansar platoon commander (PC) Delwar Hossain said Railway police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Shahdat Hossain and the Ansar members posted at the station for ensuring its security.

Meanwhile, some youths were roaming around the platform of the station without tickets. At that time, when the Ansar member asked them to leave, they got into an argument.

At one stage, the youths punched at the chest of Mainul, leaving him injured. Later, he was taken to the emergency department of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead around 9:30pm.

Ansar platoon commander (PC) Delwar Hossain said It's a murder. A member of Ansar VDP was killed while on duty. A murder case will be lodged.
