The mishap transpired on Thursday when two launches collided, causing a boat caught in the middle to sink.

Officer-in-Charge Abdus Sobhan of Sadarghat River Police Station confirmed the matter.

He explained that on Thursday night, a boat carrying passengers, including Selim Sikdar and Ataur Rahman, sank in the middle of the river due to a collision between MV MR Khan and MV Kuakata-1 launched while en route from Sadarghat to Keraniganj. Three passengers managed to swim to the shore.
