Road crash leaves 7 dead in Pirojpur; 10 hurt

A 3-wheeler badly damaged in a Pirojpur road accident that killed 7 persons on Friday 8 March 2024



Pirojpur, March 08 --At least seven people were killed and 10 others were injured when a bus rammed into a battery-run auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle in Pirojpur's Sadar upazila on Friday.

The deceased were identified as  Swapan Howladar, Md Hemayet, Khairul, Nayem, Mansura Begum, Alamgir and Jasmine.

The accident occurred around 11:45pm on the Pirojpur-Parerhat road in Jhautola area, said the OC of Pirojpur Sadar Police Station Md. Atikuzzaman. 

Pirojpur Fire Service and Civil Defense Deputy Director Md. Salim Mia said the bus left Pirojpur Bus Stand for Indurkani this morning. When it reached Jhautola around 11:45pm, it hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw from behind, and then it hit the motorcycle.

“Four people died on the spot.  Of them, three succumbed to their injuries on the way to Pirojpur Sadar Hospital,” he added.

 Pirojpur Sadar Hospital authorities said that 10 more people were injured in this incident.

Of them, those seriously injured were transferred to various hospitals in Khulna and Barishal. - UNB
