Trawler sinks in Meghna: Missing man's body found after 3 days

Chandpur, Mar 27 - The body of a passenger who went missing after a collision between a cement-laden trawler heading to Barishal and a passenger trawler heading to Shariatpur was recovered after three days from the Meghna River on Wednesday.

Chandpur River Police recovered Shahidullah Ghazi’s (48) body at 3:45 pm from the Ektel Char area near Harina Ferry Ghat in Chandpur Sadar, three kilometres south of the scene of the accident. 

Md Kamruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Chandpur River Police Station, confirmed the matter to UNB.

The driver of the trawler, Monir Hossain, who was seriously injured, is still undergoing treatment at the district Sadar Hospital.

Shahidullah Ghazi (48) hailed from Tarabunia in Sakhipur upazila of Shariatpur.

The body was identified by the family members. The body will be handed over tomorrow morning after the completion of the legal process, said the OC.
