3 bikers killed in road accident in Sylhet



Sylhet, Apr 28 - Three bikers were killed in a road accident at Barothakuri village of Jokiganj upazila of Sylhet on Saturday.

With these, seven people died in motorbike accidents in the upazila in 15 days till Saturday.

The deceased were identified as  Delwar Hossain,25, son of late Abdul Shukkur of Barothakuri village of the upazila, Redwan Ahmed, 26, son of Chad Uddin and Md. Monjur Ahmed, 38, of the same village.

Witnesses said the motorbike carrying the three youths crashed into a stationary engine-run three wheeler  at around 11:30 pm, leaving Redwan and Delwar dead on the spot.

Monjur was rescued in critical condition and died on the way to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

Javed Masud, Officer-in-Charge (OC)of Jokiganj Police Station, said that their bodies were sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Fatal accidents often occur on Jokiganj-Sylhet road as trucks, tractors, three wheelers, buses and other small vehicles are parked on the road at night, said locals.-UNB
