A cyclist was killed as a covered van hit him at a place between Palashi and Nilkhet areas.

A cyclist was killed as a covered van hit him at a place between Palashi and Nilkhet areas in the capital on Thursday.

The deceased was Md Yasin, 28, son of Abdul Karim of Chandraganj thana area of Laxmipur district.

DMP Shahbagh Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Kawsar Ahmed Bhuiyan confirmed the incident, saying that a covered van hit the victim's

cycle at the place around 3.30 pm, leaving him seriously injuring.

Later, local people rushed him to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where duty doctor declared him dead.

The body has been kept at DMCH's morgue for autopsy.

Police nabbed the driver Manik Mia and seized the covered van.
