2 hit by covered van killed in Dinajpur

Dinajpur, Sept 30 - Two people were killed and two others injured when a covered van ploughed through several rickshaw vans in the Raniganj Bazar area of Ghoraghat upazila  in Dinajpur district.

The deceased were Abdul Goffar, 68, a fish trader from Kumarpur Chhatra village in Pirganj, Rangpur, and Anwar Hossain, 50, a rickshaw van driver from Kochgram of  Birampur upazila in the distrcit.

Sub-Inspector of Ghoraghat police station Md Sabbir said a covered van ploughed through eight stationary rickshaw vans near a fish market on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway around 7 am, leaving Abdul Goffar dead on the spot and three others injured 

Anwar Hossain succumbed to his injuries when he was taken to Ghoraghat Upazila Health Complex.

Two other people injured in the accident were admitted to the hospital.

Police arrested covered van driver Siddiq, son of Sheikh Osman Ali from Ramnagar in Dinajpur, and seized the covered van, said the SI. - UNB
