3 farmers killed in Pabna road crash: Police

Pabna, Dec 27 - Three farmers were killed and five others injured as a goods-laden truck rammed into a three-wheeler, locally known as Nasimon, on Pabna-Santhia road in Pabna early Friday, said police.

The deceased were Dhani, 55, Khairul Islam Khokan, 35, and Russell, 28. All were residents of Rangamatia area of Santhia upazila.

The injured, whose conditions were stated to be critical, had been admitted to Pabna General Hospital. The victims were going to Santhia Upazila Sadar from Rangamatia to harvest paddy.

Abdul Latif, inspector (investigation) of Santhia police station, said the Pabna-bound truck hit the Santhia-bound Nasimon from the opposite direction in the Rangamatia area around 4:30am, leaving three killed on the spot and five others injured.

The bodies were sent to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said, adding that the truck was seized but the trucker managed to flee.-UNB
