Bus runs over school headmaster in Gazipur
Gazipur, 29 Dec - A school headmaster was run over by a bus in Kapasia, Gazipur on Sunday afternoon while returning home on a motorcycle.
The deceased, Saiful Islam Faruk, was the headmaster of Panchua High School in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur.
Kapasia Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Momin said that the body was recovered and sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
While he was returning home, a bus of Ananya Paribahan, which was going from Dhaka to Kishoreganj, ran over Saiful Islam Faruk, killing him on the spot.
At the time, local people tried to vandalise the bus and set it on fire. Later, the police came and brought the situation under control.
The driver fled after the incident. However, the bus and the motorcycle have been brought to the police station, said the OC.
The local Teachers' Welfare Association and Bangladesh College Teachers' Association are demanding exemplary punishment for the culprits after a proper investigation into the incident.
