6 killed in Naogaon, Gazipur and Munshiganj road accidents

Six people, including a college student, were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in Naogaon, Gazipur and Munshiganj districts on Tuesday.


The deceased were Fardin Hossain and Rezuan Islam, of Mohadevpur upazila in Naogaon, Ayon Roy, Sudeb Das and Karim Mia of Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur, and Enamul Haque, 20, an intermediate college student of Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj.

Hashmat Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohadevpur Police Station, said Fardin and Rezuan were returning to Mohadevpur from Naogaon Sadar on a motorcycle at around 10 am.

The motorbike crashed into a truck parked by the roadside, leaving Fardin Hossain dead on the spot, he said.

Rezuan was rescued and taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment, reports UNB.

Ayon Roy, Sudeb Das and Karim Mia died and another one sustained injuries when a truck rammed into an auto-rickshaw at Kanchanpur in Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur.

Quoting witnesses, police said the accident occurred around 4 pm, when the brick-laden truck hit the auto-rickshaw, leaving one killed on the spot and three others injured, said sub-inspector Zahid Hasan of Kaliakoir Police Station.

The injured were taken to Tangail Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital where the doctors declared two of them dead.

Another injured victim identified as Ripon Mia was referred to Fazilatunnesa Hospital for better treatment.

Separately, a motorbike and a battery-run autorickshaw collided on Sreenagar-Muktarpur road in Mostafaganj area under Sirajdikhan upazila around 5pm.

The Munshiganj-bound bike rammed into the autorickshaw heading from the opposite direction. The autorickshaw plunged into a roadside canal, said Md Safikul Islam, deputy assistant director of Munshiganj Fire Service.

The injured were rushed to Upazila Health Complex where physicians declared Enamul upon arrival, he said, adding that the rest injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advance treatment.
