Four people were killed and five others injured in a collision between a speedboat and a trawler on the River Meghna in Gazaria upazila, Munshiganj district.

The deceased were identified as Wadud Bepary, 36, of Jamalpur village, Babul Sarker, 48, of Ramzanbeg village, Sakib, 26, of Matlab Uttar upazila in Chandpur, and Nayeem, 24, the speedboat operator, according to police.

The accident occurred when a trawler, traveling from an event in Matlab Uttar to Guagachia in Gazaria upazila, collided with the speedboat coming from the opposite direction. Both vessels were carrying a total of 10 to 11 passengers. Police and locals reported that dense fog at the time caused the speedboat to lose control, leading to the crash.
