Three killed in Sirajganj road accident

Three members of a family, including a couple, were killed and four others injured when a passenger bus hit a battery run auto rickshaw at Sirajganj sadar upazila this evening.


The accident occurred around 7:00 PM at Mulibari area of Jamuna Bridge’s West Link Road in Sirajganj Sadar upazila.

The deceased were identified as Shafiqul Islam (35), son of Golam Mostafa of Purbo Baitara village in Soydabad Union, his wife Sumona Khatun (22), and his younger sister Lucky Khatun (25).

“Locals had taken the victims to the hospital before police arrived at the scene. The hospital’s emergency department declared three of them dead upon arrival,” said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jamuna Bridge West Police Station Anwar Hossain.

Anwar said, “Shafiq and some of his family members were going to attend a family programme. A Nabil Paribahan passenger bus hit their human hauler on Jamuna Bridge West Link Road’s Mulibari area, killing Shafiq, his wife and sister on the spot”.

The injured are Zubair Hossain (27), Rongila Khatun (55), Nur Islam (46), and a seven-year-old child, Raisha Moni, reports BSS.

They were admitted to Sirajganj General Hospital.
