Construction worker dies falling off Kamalapur metro station

A construction worker died after falling from the under-construction metro rail station in the capital's Kamalapur on Friday, police said.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Nayem, 20, son of Nazimul Islam from Panial Pukur village in Kishoreganj Upazila of Nilphamari.

Nayem's uncle Raju Mia said the incident occurred around 5:30 am when he accidentally fell from a height and sustained critical injuries due to negligence.

His coworkers immediately rescued him and rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries around 11:45 am while undergoing treatment.

Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp, said that the body has been kept at the DMCH morgue for an autopsy. - UNB
