At least three people, including a woman, were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Kaliakair-Mawna regional road in Gazipur's Kaliakair upazila on 15 March. Two others were injured in the crash.

The deceased have been identified as Obaidul, the driver of the auto-rickshaw, and two passengers. The identities of the other victims are yet to be confirmed, police said.

Officer-in-charge of Kaliakair Police Station, Riad Mahmud, confirmed the identities of the deceased and stated that the truck driver fled the scene following the accident. Authorities are working to identify the victims and take legal action.

According to witnesses and local police, the CNG-run auto-rickshaw was traveling from Mawna Intersection towards Kaliakair when it collided with a brick-laden truck near Mediashulai around 9 a.m. The front of the auto-rickshaw was severely damaged, killing the driver and two passengers instantly, while two others were injured.

The injured victims have been transported to the Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
