A severely damaged ambulance after the collision with a van in Jashore on Wednesday



Jashore, Mar 19 - Three people were killed and two others injured in a collision between an ambulance and an engine-run van on Jashore-Benapole highway in Jashore early Wednesday.

The deceased were Nazma Khatun, 50, Bablu Hossain, 54, and Ratna Khatun, 12, hailing from Godkhali area under Jhikargacha upazila of the district.

The injured are Hasan Iqbal, 30, and Halima Khatun, 28. All the victims were passengers of the van.

Navaran Highway police station’s Officer-in-Charge Rokanuzzaman said the accident occurred around 6:15am when the Benapole-bound ambulance crashed into the van coming from the opposite direction in front of a refueling station in Nabinagar area, leaving the trio dead on the spot and two others wounded.

The bodies were sent to Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy, the OC said
