Three Dead, 25 Injured in Cumilla Bus Crash

A devastating road accident on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Cumilla claimed the lives of three people and left at least 25 others injured on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred in the Chandina upazila when a passenger bus veered off the road and crashed into an electric pole and a tree.

According to Baharul Islam, the station master of the Chandina Fire Service, the “Tisha Plus” passenger bus was traveling from Dhaka to Cumilla when it lost control near Indrarchar around 6:30 pm. The bus went off the road, hitting the electric pole and tree, resulting in the death of one person and injuring 27 others.

Two of the injured later succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The identities of the deceased, all of whom were male, have yet to be confirmed.

The injured passengers were initially treated at the Chandina Upazila Health Complex before being transferred to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for further care. Dr. Subal Debnath, a physician at the health complex, confirmed that two passengers were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, while efforts to identify the victims are ongoing.
