Three people, including a woman, were killed and four others injured when a microbus rammed into a stationary truck on the Meherpur-Kushtia road in Gangni upazila early Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Jamal Uddin, 55, son of Mozammel Haque from Paschim Malshadaha village in Gangni upazila; Shahinuzzaman, 28, son of Golam Kibaria from Garadob village under Gangni municipality; and his paternal aunt Akhtar Banu, 45, wife of Nazrul Islam from Meherpur Sadar upazila.

The injured are Golapi Khatun, Fozila Khatun, and Alfatoon Nesha.

According to police, the Kushtia-bound microbus carrying seven passengers, hit a parked truck from behind near Shukurkandi village around midnight, leaving all of them critically injured.

Akhtar Banu died on the way to Kushtia Medical College Hospital, while driver Jamal Uddin and passenger Shahinuzzaman succumbed to their injuries early Tuesday while undergoing treatment.
