Two young men were killed when their motorcycle crashed into a cement-laden truck near the Expressway in Dhaka’s Banani area on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Ashrafur Rahman Ashique, 24, who was riding the motorcycle and Asif Mahmud Sompod, 25, who was on the pillion.

Officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station Md Rasel Sarwar said the accident took place between 9:30 am and 9:40 am near the Expressway, when the motorcycle crashed into the truck. Both victims died on the spot, reports UNB.

Police seized the truck and detained the helper, although the driver managed to flee the scene, the OC said.

Ashique had recently graduated from a private university and was working with a ride-sharing service, while Asif was a marine engineer, he added.
