33 Hurt as Bus Plunges into Ditch in Dinajpur

At least 33 people were injured this afternoon when a Bogura-bound passenger bus veered off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch in Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur district.


The accident occurred around 1:30 PM at the Raniganj Gohati Charmatha intersection on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj road. According to Inspector M Nazmul Haque, officer-in-charge of Ghoraghat Police Station, the driver reportedly lost control of the steering, causing the bus to skid off the road and crash into the ditch.

Local residents rushed to the scene and rescued the injured passengers. Nine of them, who were seriously hurt, were taken to Ghoraghat Upazila Hospital. Eleven others were admitted to Birampur Upazila Health Complex, while 13 people with minor injuries received first aid at the Ghoraghat hospital.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
