2 killed, 21 hurt in Barishal road accident

Two people were killed and 21 others injured as a speeding truck carrying them plunged into a pond in Wazirpur upazila of Barishal district on Thursday afternoon.


The identities of the deceased are yet to be known.

Md Bipul Hossain, station officer at Gournadi Fire Service, said the truck overturned and fell into the pond after losing control in Bamrail area on Dhaka-Barishal Highway around 4:30pm on way to Barishal city, reports UNB. 

On information, a fire service team rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and sent to Wazirpur Upazila Health Complex where two of them were declared dead, he said.

The death toll may rise, he said.

All the deceased were from gypsy community, the fire service official added.
