Two killed in Sunamganj road crash

Two people including a four-month-old baby girl were killed and five others injured in a road accident at Gagli area of Joykalas union under Shantiganj upazila of the district today.


The deceased were Pradyut Chakraborty, 35, son of Pratul Ranjan Chakraborty of Dhulposhi village in Doarabazar upazila and Humaira, daughter of Hasan Ali, a resident of Kadirpur Dhal village in Dirai upazila of the district.

The accident occurred on the Sunamganj-Dirai highway around 1.30 pm when a Leguna collided head-on with a CNG-run auto rickshaw, leaving auto rickshaw driver Pradyut dead on the spot and six others injured, said Akram Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shantiganj Police Station.

The injured were taken to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital where the baby girl succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment, reports BSS.
