Two brothers killed as bus rams stationary pickup in Feni

Feni, Jul 25 -Two brothers were killed as a speeding bus rammed into a stationary pickup van on Feni-Noakhali regional highway in Feni Sadar upazila early Friday.

The deceased were identified as Mosharraf Hossain, 29, and his younger brother Ekram Hossain, 18, sons of Shah Alam from Lakshiyara Ujalia Kazi Bari in Panchgachhia union under the Sadar upazila.

The victims’ cousin Md Sujan said Mosharraf worked for a transport company named Alvi Enterprise. One of the pickup vans of the company plunged into a roadside ditch in the Panchgachhia area on Thursday night.

Upon request from the company, Mosharraf accompanied by his brother went there to retrieve it at night.

Around 3am, the Noakhali-bound bus of ‘Lal Sabuj’ paribahan hit the retrieved pickup van from behind, leaving the brothers critically injured as they were standing behind the van in front of Tamim Digital Weighing Scale in the Panchgachhia area.

Locals rescued them and rushed to Feni General Hospital where Mosharraf was declared dead by physicians upon arrival.

On the other hand, Ekram succumbed to his injuries on way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) from the Sadar Hospital.

Officer-in-charge of Mohipal Highway Police Station Md Harunur Rashid said they were aware of the accident and legal action in this regard was underway. - UNB
