One person was killed and eight others injured when a truck hit a microbus at Lalpool, near Feni town on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway last night.

The deceased was identified as Rajib Hossain Raju, 26, son of Abdur Razzaque, from Paschim Char Jabbar village under Char Jabbar Thana in Noakhali.

According to locals and the injured, the Chattogram-bound microbus, arriving from Cumilla, was struck around 9:30pm while moving onto the highway from the nearby Sandhani Filling Station.

The impact caused the microbus to crumple and mount the highway divider.

Police and local residents rescued the nine passengers and took them to the 250-bed Feni General Hospital, where the duty doctor declared one dead, said Mahipal Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Harunur Rashid.

Two critically injured passengers were later transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Police have recovered both vehicles from the scene, reports BSS.
