A farmer was electrocuted at Bhatpara village in Gangni upazila of Meherpur district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified Shawkat Ali, son of late Foratullah Kazi of the village.

Officer-in-Charge of Gangni police station Bani Israil said Shawkat got electrocuted when was trying to turn on the switch of his irrigation pump.

Another source said there were some holes in the electric wire of the pump and Ali managed to make it function with some patchworks which eventually became the cause of his tragic death, reports UNB.
