10 hurt in gas balloon blast at Manik Mia Avenue

Gas balloon blast at Manik Main Avenue



At least 10 people suffered burn injuries from a gas balloon explosion at an event organised to mark the first anniversary of ‘July Mass Uprising’ in Manik Mia Avenue of Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon.

The injured were identified as Mazharul Islam, 27, Billal Hossain, 45, Monsur Islam, 38, Md Fahad, 20, Mohammad Sharif, 32, Palash, 21, Mohammad Habibullah, 23, Md Yasin, 25, Mishu, 23, and Nihat, 17.

They were brought to the emergency department of National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 3pm, where they received primary treatment and were later released, reports UNB. 

Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, a residential medical officer at the institute, said the victims suffered two to six percent burns from the balloon fire.
