Two killed in Sylhet road accident

Two young men riding a motorbike were killed in a tragic road accident after being struck by a bus at Osmaninagar Upazila of Sylhet this evening.


The deceased were Nazmul Islam, 32, son of Abdul Karim from Baraishapur village in Umarpur Union, and Arosh Ali, of the same village.

Witnesses said, Nazmul and Arosh were heading towards Sylhet from Goalabazar on a motorcycle when a Dhaka-bound passenger bus named “Dhaka Express” hit them from behind.

Both the motorcycle riders fell off their seats. Nazmul died on the spot.

Arosh Ali was rescued in critical condition and taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead in the evening.

According to Officer-in-Charge of Sherpur Highway Police, Abu Taher Dewan, the accident occurred around 5:50 PM in the Ilashpur area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway, reports BSS. 

“We recovered the bodies and brought the bus to the police station, the OC added.
