Speedboat sinks with 11 passengers in Padma River

The accident took place around 8:30 am on Saturday (April 30). No casualties were reported yet.
Salauddin Ahmed, Banglabazar Ghat Manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), said all the passengers of the capsized speedboat have been rescued. No one has remained missing.
It was reported that a speedboat left Shimulia for Banglabazar Ghat in Shibchar this morning. When the boat reached the Padma Bridge, it was overturned due to a strong current. On information, local fishermen and a naval police team rushed to the spot and rescued all the passengers.
Manager Salauddin Ahmed said that the speedboat named Babu left Shimulia with more passengers than its capacity.
Kanthalbari naval police outpost inspector Md Jahanur Ali said, the bottom of the speedboat cracked and later capsized. However, all the passengers have been rescued. No casualties have been reported.
