Three people were killed and two others, including a motorcyclist, injured in separate motorcycle accidents in Gazipur on Saturday night.

Police said the identities of the deceased and the injured could not be confirmed immediately.

The first accident occurred around 11:30pm on the Dhaka–Mymensingh highway in the Rajendrapur area under Gazipur Metropolitan Sadar Police Station, when a motorcycle crashed, leaving two people dead on the spot.

Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue.

Around 12am, another accident took place near the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute area on the Shibbari–Chandna Chowrasta road under the same police station, when a private car collided head-on with a motorcycle carrying three people, reports UNB.

One person was killed on the spot, while two others were injured.

The injured were taken to the same hospital for treatment.

Legal steps are being taken regarding both incidents, said Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of Gazipur Sadar Police Station.
