30 passengers hurt as bus overturns in Habiganj

At least 30 passengers were injured as a bus of 'Unique Paribahan' overturned in the Shahpur Haritala area under Madhabpur upazila of the district this afternoon.


The accident occurred around 1pm on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway when the Sylhet-bound bus from Dhaka lost control while overtaking another vehicle, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shayestaganj Highway Police Station Shuvo Ranjan Chakraborty.

Of the injured, at least 15 people were admitted to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital in critical condition, while others received primary treatment at various local hospitals, including the Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex, reports BSS. 

Local residents and police rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and helped rescue the injured, the OC added.
